I decided to only keep up with my family blog since our lives with our family and ministry are just too busy to keep up with 2 blogs!<br />
<br />
But, I did want to ask for you help. A dear sweet family, the Groeneveld's, lost their home on Saturday morning due to a fire. You can read their story on my <a href="http://www.thefamilyof3scotts.blogspot.com/">blog.</a> I put a link to her blog there!<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have really enjoyed this book (so far) and it has already made a difference in the way I view everyday life. I seem to live in the "fast lane" in life, getting things done (in a hurry), getting the boys dressed (in a hurry), getting supper on the table (in a hurry), and getting the boys to Sunday School (in a hurry). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><span style="font-size: large;">Nothing in life, really worth-while happens </span><em><span style="font-size: large;">in a hurry.</span> </em></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="DSC_1850" class="aligncenter" height="212" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5004/5357241957_2305915e93.jpg" width="320" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I'm afraid I have a tendency not to "stop and smell the roses" but to hurriedly take a glance at them as a I jog through life. Everyday when I wake up, I want to count my blessings. Count the ways that Jesus has shown that He loves me by all the beauty that surrounds me. He has created all of these things in life, even the simplest of things, just for me. To show me that He loves me. </span></div><div align="left" style="text-align: center;"></div><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="295" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GhOUaszMGvQ?fs=1" width="480"></iframe><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I found out about the Bloom Book Club by reading "Bring the Rain" by Angie Smith. If you would like to join in, click <a href="http://www.incourage.me/category/bloom">here</a> for more information.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: xx-small;">Disclaimer: I do not agree with the author's view of theology in chapter 2. However, I can glean great information from the rest of the book.</span>Julie Scotthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024567576821263980noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5674213524149616543.post-63568722199876675722011-02-01T08:57:00.000-08:002011-02-01T09:28:14.166-08:00Couponing not for you? Then why not Try this......<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="295" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4p958Ve4Rhk?fs=1" width="480"></iframe><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">We all know that using coupons takes a lot of time. Sometimes if I don't have all my coupons organized and together, I just get frustrated and go to W<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">almart</span> without any at all.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"> <img height="320" src="http://consumerist.com/assets_c/2009/11/CrazyCouponLady-thumb-153xauto-8282.jpg" width="240" /></span></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">With 2 little boys in the cart ages 2 and 1, coupons aren't always the easiest thing for me to use! I am just trying to get through <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Walmart</span> without leaving a Goldfish trail. (this is why now I almost always go at night after the boys are asleep- do you blame me?)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">If you aren't a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">couponing</span> mom, don't give up. Just use cash. Make a list, add it up roughly before you go, bring a calculator, and use cash. No more cash in my envelope at the end of the month? Then I guess we all will starve.=/</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zsrwHjZFVZY/S0kHKJLcEgI/AAAAAAAAE7A/MRVZKbvMPSQ/s320/RedEnvelopeSystem.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="240" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The envelope system--it really works!</td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I think using cash regularly for groceries will really help our family. I have found that it is <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">alot</span> harder for me to spend that cash then to swipe my debit. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Hope this helps you! I love to sew for them, but we all know that sewing for boys is just not as fun as sewing for girls! No frills and ruffles in this house!!</span><br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5566236747605665762" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZMadrTI__wo/TT8-1KzC5-I/AAAAAAAACn8/aqguh-NQLxA/s320/boys.bmp" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 320px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 214px;" /><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">So when I saw </span><a href="http://www.purlbee.com/little-boys-tie/"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">this ADORABLE tutorial</span></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"> on how to make little boy's ties, my heart skipped a beat!</span><br />
<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5566236442633946610" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZMadrTI__wo/TT8-jasHxfI/AAAAAAAACn0/w9dEtIXB_7Q/s320/boys-tie-5.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 320px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 203px;" /><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I think I just found me another project to add to my list for next week! I can't wait to find the perfect material for a few matching ties for this summer! (or I could just buy them some matching ties at The Children's Place?--but this is so much more fun, right!)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"></span><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5566236156993090930" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZMadrTI__wo/TT8-SymCNXI/AAAAAAAACns/JOigCmhkkm8/s320/boys-tie-6.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 320px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 237px;" /><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Now, if I could just have a little girl to coordinate her dress with their ties! Have to talk to the hubby about that one!ha Until then, maybe we can coordinate with my adorable niece!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace; font-size: large;">real life is happening around here- organizing, cleaning out, 2 boys with fevers, laundry, mom group, cooking, family, teaching piano, and church ministry. Know what i mean?</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Maybe my life will be back to normal soon and time for projects won't be so sparse!!- looking forward to a nice trip to the beach this weekend with my hubby and close friends for a couples retreat!! Yay for some alone time!!</span><br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Everyday my "to-do" cleaning list is filled to the brim and cleaning is not something that I just love to do. However, it must get done. It was something that I was always doing, yet for some reason it wasn't staying that way! </span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Wanna get organized? Get a schedule!</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I wanted to do something different this year- free up more time to spend with my boys, do more fun craft and sewing projects, scrapbook, try new recipes, have pre-school with Evan, have new moms come to my house for a playdate, have more time to read and to find creative ways to make my home a fun and happy place to be. </span></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">But, the reality of it is- is that I am a mom of 2 boys that are 19 months apart and Boys will be Boys!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">But, to keep my sanity- I needed a plan. Well, with <a href="http://time-warp-wife.blogspot.com/2010/09/home-maintenance-schedule.html">this</a> housekeeping plan (adapted-julie-style) it seems to be working. It's not that fun the first few days but it is getting to where my house seems to be staying clean <strike>for 1 hr. </strike>My husband has remarked how he really likes this plan. Every morning before he leaves for work I might say, "Have a good day, hon--today I will be deep cleaning all the bedrooms!" (You know- just to let him know that I won't be watching tv and blogging all day!HA HA)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">One of the best (and most common sense) tips that I read was to pick up around the house 10 minutes after each meal. WOW what a difference this has made in our house! My husband even helps me! I also have this schedule on my fridge to remind me what I will be doing that day and what needs to get done!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace; font-size: large;">So, have you decided that you need someone to help you better organize your cleaning schedule? Go <a href="http://time-warp-wife.blogspot.com/2010/09/home-maintenance-schedule.html">here</a> to read more tips and adapt her schedule to your lifestyle.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">Your family will thank you. Your husband will think your nuts (but secretly love it). And you will sleep much better at night knowing your house is <strike>somewhat </strike>sparkling clean!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">So, what is your best kept secret cleaning tip? Please do tell!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New; font-size: xx-small;">(REALITY ALERT: ok realistically I need to get up right now and go pick up, straighten the play room, do another load of laundry and pick up the bath toys off the floor! But hey, I'm trying and it has really helped me! Alot.)</span>Julie Scotthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024567576821263980noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5674213524149616543.post-34857490433123638262011-01-06T12:36:00.000-08:002011-01-06T12:55:55.039-08:00Better-than-Logan's Potato Soup Recipe<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSYhmyWuvDI/AAAAAAAAAHo/W-yTS7XpVjE/s1600/324.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSYhmyWuvDI/AAAAAAAAAHo/W-yTS7XpVjE/s320/324.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Have you ever had the Potato Soup from Logan's Roadhouse? If you haven't- don't worry about going- just make this one instead! Now, it is very hard to beat Logan's but I will say if this recipe doesn't beat it- it is a close 2nd.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSYjSofqJFI/AAAAAAAAAHs/YdmLe-e27CU/s1600/323.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSYjSofqJFI/AAAAAAAAAHs/YdmLe-e27CU/s320/323.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This Potato Soup is one of those recipes that I love to bring out often! We love it around here, and we love to pair it with grilled cheese. It's quick and easy, and you probably have most of these ingredients already! I love my mom's recipe, I love my friend, Lauren's, I added a few things myself and that's how this one came about. So here you go. <span style="font-size: x-small;">(by the way, nobody really has "measurements" here so I'm doing my best with the details. Don't worry- you can't really mess this up!)</span></span><br />
<br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Better than Logan's Potato Soup</span></span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><u>Ingredients:</u></span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">4-5 Potatoes</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">2 cups of Milk</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1 Stick Butter</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">2 oz Cream Cheese</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1 Can of Cream of Chicken</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1 Can of Chicken Broth</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">2-3 Tablespoons of Flour</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1-2 Cups of Cheese</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1/2 Cup of Sour Cream</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">1 Bag of Real Bacon Bits (or you can use real bacon and crumble)</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Optional: Toppings- Crumbled Bacon, Cheese and Sour cream</span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><u>Don't Let the list of Ingredients Scare you---this is really a fool-proof recipe.</u></span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1. In a Large Pot, pour 1 can of cream of chicken broth and 1 can of Cream of Chicken Soup. (*If you don't want your soup too creamy- then just add half of the can) Put on High Heat and Bring to a boil. If mixture seems too thick, add a little bit of water or milk.</span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">2. Peal and Dice your Potatoes into cubes and place in the pot to cook.</span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">3. After your potatoes have cooked, lay to the side. (You will need to watch this and make sure they don't burn. Add a little bit of water to the mixture if it becomes too thick.)</span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">4. Cut your Cream Cheese into chunks and place in the microwave for 10-20 seconds to make creamy. </span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">5. In a Big Soup Pot, add your 1 stick of butter on Med Heat. While the butter is melting, add your cream cheese mixture and whisk. When Melted and mixed together, add your 2-3 Tablespoons of Flour and whisk until it becomes a thick mixture. </span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">6. Then add your milk, sour cream, cheese and bacon bits. A little bit of salt and pepper. Whisk until it becomes a thick mixture on med-high heat. You will want this to thicken up a little.</span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">7. Add your potato mixture to the big soup pot and let simmer on med heat.</span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">8. Honestly, this soup can be done right then or you can let it simmer for 20-30 minutes. </span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">9. Top it with a little cheese, bacon bits and sour cream and your family will thank you.</span></div><div align="center"><br />

I loved the houndstooth fabric because I am such a black-and-white kinda girl (and it was already in my sewing stash). You need something sturdier to put the roses on like felt or a thin piece of cardboard. I cut the cardboard to the size that I wanted my rose to be. I then cut 7 circles per rose. I hot glued the fabric to the back and front of the rose, then used the remaining five circles to create the rose. I then added a pearl in the middle of each rose.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSDi6CpZI1I/AAAAAAAAAHY/VMhu2w8ku0o/s1600/100.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSDi6CpZI1I/AAAAAAAAAHY/VMhu2w8ku0o/s320/100.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"> Look at </span><a href="http://littlemissmomma.blogspot.com/2010/12/pom-pom-bib-necklace-tutorial-lmm.html"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">this</span></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"> tutorial for more in-depth instructions.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSDjLcqcOxI/AAAAAAAAAHc/rb7IjDSoi7Y/s1600/105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSDjLcqcOxI/AAAAAAAAAHc/rb7IjDSoi7Y/s320/105.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I found this black chain at Walmart for 4.00---and had the rest of the supplies around the house.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSDhnb9J-mI/AAAAAAAAAHM/an_cFJXpr7c/s1600/113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TSDhnb9J-mI/AAAAAAAAAHM/an_cFJXpr7c/s320/113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I loved the way it turned out! </span><br />

We were visiting family out of state the week before Christmas, and then since we got home on Christmas Eve we have been visiting with family, had beautiful snow days, done plenty of Christmas shopping and have just been relaxing. I have missed blogging so much and have several projects to share that I have been working on. The real reason that I haven't been able to blog is that my computer was sent to dell over the holidays to have a new keyboard put in since Pierson Reese decided to pluck a key out! <br />
<br />
So, while I am working on a few posts tonight to post later this weekend and week.....I wanted to wish you all a <strike>late</strike> Merry Christmas and Happy New Year by sharing our Family Christmas Card.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Fave Ideas to do with your Family Over Christmas:</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Recently, I had our mom2mom group over for a Christmas Party. My friend, Amy, gave a handout for some neat Ideas to do with your family over Christmas.....I thought I would name a few of my favorites here. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="194" id="il_fi" src="http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:cQpg0aOezYd-wM:http://image30.webshots.com/30/9/45/76/242894576duhzOp_fs.jpg&t=1" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="259" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">1. Start a Christmas Puzzle somewhere in your home. A puzzle table, placed in a quiet room is great for holiday visitors. Whenever guests want to get away from the action, they can retreat to work on the puzzle. It can be a great stress reliever and it is wonderful for those guests who always have to be busy doing something.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="240" id="il_fi" src="http://www.sandists.com/Fabric_Giftbags_images/christmas-fabric-gift-bag-view.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">2. Challenge each member of your family to fill a box or bag full of clothes/toys to give away to a needy family. (Our mom's group loved participating in the adopt-a-child for Christmas!)</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="396" id="il_fi" src="http://www.gonynanny.com/files/1702685/uploaded/Woman%20after%20God%27s%20own%20heart.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="251" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">3. Do you love reading? I do! What was your favorite book you read this year? Buy it and give it someone you know would love it anonymously! </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="240" id="il_fi" src="http://www.twilitelimo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/christmas_lights_tour.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">4. Several of my friends do this--and this is something neat that I would like to start with my kids! Have a special night where you all get in the van--- wear your PJ's--bring some Christmas Candy--or hot chocolate- Have some Christmas music playing-and go see the Christmas lights! My boys will love this!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="257" id="il_fi" src="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:Lnsj6G4INzlVoM:http://www.stevenscatering.biz/Happy_Birthday_Jesus.JPG&t=1" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="196" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">5. We love to do this. Christmas is really a celebration of Jesus' Birthday! Why not have a Birthday party with cake and balloons for Jesus! My little Evan loves birthday parties---he knows that Christmas is Jesus Birthday! Celebrate it!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="207" id="il_fi" src="http://www.jjwhotels.com/media/2270260/2-friends-spa-towels.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="207" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">6. This one is one my favorites--The holidays can take their toll. Make a holiday tradition of recharging your own batteries. Gather your daughter/mom/best friend and head to the day spa for a much deserved pedicure or massage! (most likely this won't happen for me- but its a nice thought!)</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="304" id="il_fi" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8GbvNCveJNY/ScOvXsDg3sI/AAAAAAAAAQI/EzZ8b86iVsk/s400/hot-chocolate%5B1%5D.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="300" /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New; font-size: large;">Homemade Hot Chocolate </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Leaving you with an awesome Home-made Hot Chocolate Recipe.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">A lady in our church is known for this recipe!</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Mix together and boil:</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">1 heaping tablespoon cocoa powder</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">1/2 cup sugar</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">1/2 cup water</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Then add 1 quart of milk and stir!</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Simple but awesome!!</span><br />

I also added one of my home-made Christmas pictures<a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a><span id="goog_1881341162"></span><span id="goog_1881341163"></span> and added a ornament in a frame like my friend, <a href="http://lessthanperfectlifeofbliss.blogspot.com/2010/12/sugar-wonderland-christmas-shelves.html">Julie's.</a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TQZLLCqAazI/AAAAAAAAAGk/I11gYdM9nxo/s1600/061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TQZLLCqAazI/AAAAAAAAAGk/I11gYdM9nxo/s320/061.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Also, I just put a few ornaments in a glass hurricane and set it on top of the base of a candle that I already had.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="213" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TQZKKmDdrqI/AAAAAAAAAGU/u8J6Mg7og58/s320/106.JPG" width="320" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This is the view of our tree from the top of the stairs. <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have been reading <a href="http://sophieshope08.blogspot.com/2010/11/t-shirt-tutorial.html">this</a> blog for a long time now. She is probably one of my favorite "moms" to read after. They have 3 adorable boys and they adopted a sweet little girl a year ago. She also fosters children and just recently had to say goodbye to a 5 year old girl. She is very crafty and seems to have it all together (why can't I be like that!?)- and I really loved reading about this tutorial on how to make a t-shirt from material!! So cute! (she made the dress too and is doing a give-away on a custom dress right <a href="http://sophieshope08.blogspot.com/">now!!</a>) GO ENTER!</span><br />

Go check out <a href="http://southernhospitalityblog.com/kitchen-vignettes-lime-and-red/">Rhonda's Party</a> at Southern Hospitality. Hundreds of bloggers have linked up to her party and I have enjoyed looking for many ways to decorate my nest for my family! I loved <strike>drooling over </strike>reading about the way she decorated her Buffet. Stunning.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZhYYNCHbcYQ/TO1IgtPOheI/AAAAAAAALXc/GAd5jexoSsE/s1600/Wise+Men+Still+Seek+Him.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZhYYNCHbcYQ/TO1IgtPOheI/AAAAAAAALXc/GAd5jexoSsE/s320/Wise+Men+Still+Seek+Him.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Need cheap but unique Christmas Art? I love finding ways to decorate the Spiritual and Most important Side of Christmas!!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img class="width_500 frame-img" height="212" src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/140/333323997_04bd8d6c53.jpg" width="320" /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Ok. I am ending with this because A. I am hungry and B. I am trying to find unique Christmas presents to make for others. Yall...have you ever heard of the <a href="http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/cinammon_rolls_/">Pioneer Woman</a>? I bought her cookbook last year and my hubby even looked at the pics with me! She is an amazing cook and these cinnamon rolls are to die for. Now, you may die while you are making them- or just by eating them- but it's so worth it. Yes, there are a few steps to them, but if I can do it- Anyone can. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">They are the PERFECT breakfast for you to serve on Christmas morning. And let me tell you the best secret- they are even better frozen. I tried it (hey, she recommended it!) and they were awesome! Go ahead and make them <strike>all day</strike> next week and freeze them...and a wonderful, memorable breakfast is served on Christmas morning!</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="460" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3246/3111526875_6e20ae0fe0.jpg?v=0" width="360" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This was my</span> <a href="http://theinspiredroom.net/2008/12/16/trying-to-be-festive-when-times-are-tough/">Inspiration</a>.<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"> The title to her post caught my eye..."How to be festive when times are rough"--So I thought this must be a great project to try with a few pennies and some branches.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6m08vXfDI/AAAAAAAAAEc/xw2Sn7jUk2I/s1600/048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6m08vXfDI/AAAAAAAAAEc/xw2Sn7jUk2I/s320/048.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">So I took my boys outside to play- and gathered a few branches in my backyard. I then took some White Krylon Spray Paint and sprayed my branches white. I even added some silver Krylon Spray Paint to the edges for a glittery-snowy effect. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6nU7mX2tI/AAAAAAAAAEk/OEoC7EFwuYo/s1600/087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6nU7mX2tI/AAAAAAAAAEk/OEoC7EFwuYo/s320/087.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I went to Dollar Tree and found some beautiful silver/white/gold ornaments for cheap! I also had some glass vases but I really wanted them white- so I spray painted those as well. Yall- this was as simple as it gets- and thrifty, too. And that's how I like it.</span></div><span style="font-family: Courier New;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6r-5cTWHI/AAAAAAAAAEo/_qFzgWXXuME/s1600/046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6r-5cTWHI/AAAAAAAAAEo/_qFzgWXXuME/s320/046.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I also needed a small wreath to go over the mirror. I had an old one with plaid ribbon and red berries. Cute but not for this room. So I took it all off- Spray painted the wreath, berries and pine cones silver and I love it! I already had the white fuzzy-snowy garland, so I used that to hang the wreath. (I just put a push-pin through the ribbon and "Pinned" it to the wall behind the mirror.)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6v3cCGdiI/AAAAAAAAAEw/hbuETQ-kRGM/s1600/043.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6v3cCGdiI/AAAAAAAAAEw/hbuETQ-kRGM/s320/043.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I love the silvery and gold branches I found at Michaels for 60% off! And the perfect height for this corner! The Vase was also glass but I spray painted (can you believe it?) black.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6nFidrWSI/AAAAAAAAAEg/VJdOyfTaJco/s1600/042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6nFidrWSI/AAAAAAAAAEg/VJdOyfTaJco/s320/042.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I love the way the White/Silver/Gold look in my grey dining room. I wanted to add a touch of gold because we haven't changed out the chandelier in the dining room yet. I'm starting to really like it in there, though. The chandelier might meet Krylon if I get brave enough.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6vrxtOy1I/AAAAAAAAAEs/NLMjakYesik/s1600/102.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6vrxtOy1I/AAAAAAAAAEs/NLMjakYesik/s320/102.JPG" width="320" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: Courier New;">Today we had our mom2mom Christmas Party---a time to eat, fellowship and wrap presents for needy children. Its so excited to be able to help others in need! These children are very faithful to ride our church buses each week to hear about God's gift of salvation!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6wXcyA5XI/AAAAAAAAAE8/bCEtPZW6w6c/s1600/144.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6wXcyA5XI/AAAAAAAAAE8/bCEtPZW6w6c/s320/144.JPG" width="240" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Aren't the presents beautiful? One of our moms (who is an awesome decorator) gave us all tutorials on how to wrap pretty Christmas presents and how to make Christmas bows. We then all practiced on the gifts we had brought for the needy children!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6wh7U0Y8I/AAAAAAAAAFA/tcjNJzUS6Ko/s1600/147.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TP6wh7U0Y8I/AAAAAAAAAFA/tcjNJzUS6Ko/s320/147.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I wish I could be there to see each child open up these beautiful presents! Today was one of those days that served as a big reminder to me around this crazy-busy- time of the year! IT is ALWAYS more BLESSED to GIVE than RECEIVE!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Linking up with <a href="http://southernhospitalityblog.com/kitchen-vignettes-lime-and-red/">Rhonda's</a> Party and few other great <a href="http://lessthanperfectlifeofbliss.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-favorite-link-parties.html">Parties!</a></span></div><br />

We have just been all hit with the stomach bug. Lovely, I know. But we seem to be all feeling better and I have alot of "christamasing" to do- to get my nest ready for some Christmas Parties that are headed my way. While I have been nurse to my <strike>3 kids </strike> boys and their daddy--I have been finding somewhat of a "way to escape" by reading some of your blogs and finding some great Christmas ideas to tackle!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have two downstairs in my garage just waiting to be touched, and that may *or may not* just happen tonight! But while we wait- Let's take the time to notice some of these fun projects and ideas!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;"></span><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5546267391796355682" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_LMyqMRT40LM/TPhMzrVaomI/AAAAAAAACj4/8oLUmCXQ6TA/s400/PC029194.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 300px;" /><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I loved seeing the simple wreath that my friend, <a href="http://www.lessthanperfectlifeofbliss.blogspot.com/">Julie</a>, attached to a red picture frame to sit on her kitchen mantle. She inspired me to attach a wreath above my stove---so that happened this afternoon. I loved that she kept it simple yet very pretty!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img alt="Christmas Monogram Wreath" border="0" height="320" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_bd2lCFlt2fE/TOHpjd-ty6I/AAAAAAAABqY/uNSFylFHjaI/Christmas%20Monogram%20Wreath_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Christmas Monogram Wreath" width="225" /></span></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I Love the monogrammed wreath at <a href="http://www.dittledattle.blogspot.com/">this</a> blog. Honestly, isn't it adorable? This might just have to happen one day on my back door!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_vswDWGRlsPw/TPh5AZqeFuI/AAAAAAAALM4/LPOBl11VL5E/IMG_2015_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="" width="213" /></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I am all about the way that <a href="http://www.thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/">she</a> decorated her buffet using only items that she saw at Wal-Mart!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img alt="" border="0" height="238" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_vswDWGRlsPw/TPh42aZCmyI/AAAAAAAALLg/SHJbwVecX2w/photo_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="" width="320" /></span></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Don't you remember seeing this aisle when you were supposed to be only in-and-out to get some Milk? I have to stay away or it can become dangerous! This aisle at Wal-Mart is where she got most of her items and ideas. Love it!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img alt="november 2010 048 1" border="0" height="266" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_4HaG7qoeoyk/TPciV5iDWMI/AAAAAAAAJpA/9ACd5Pi9HFE/november20100481_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="november 2010 048 1" width="320" /></span></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I could go on for a while, but I will end with one of my favorite blogs...Click <a href="http://granvillehouse.blogspot.com/2010/12/silvery-christmas-vignette.html">here</a> to see how she decorated her buffet using items that she got 75% off at Target or the Goodwill. I Love all of the silver. And I love that with the a little bit of creativity and re-purposing you can use a handful-of-pennies to make something beautiful for Christmas!</span><br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">So, I was on the hunt for something similar to this PB chair. But who in their right mind would pay $399 for this chair- not to mention $29.00 just for the cushion!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0n0wEeYhI/AAAAAAAAADw/e9BwbAHSOrM/s1600/670.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0n0wEeYhI/AAAAAAAAADw/e9BwbAHSOrM/s320/670.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">When I spotted this chair in Goodwill sitting right in the front of the store, I actually walked right past her. I was thinking she was probably priced too high (usually the furniture right in front is always priced high)- so I kept walking. As I walked out of the store, I decided to check the price tag. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0oDeJ5xtI/AAAAAAAAAD0/Vvl0yAvbz68/s1600/671.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0oDeJ5xtI/AAAAAAAAAD0/Vvl0yAvbz68/s320/671.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">I thought she might be perfect for my desk space in my kitchen because of her wheels.....but I just wasn't sold. I could just see what she could become. After that dried- and a few touch-ups- I used my Krylon Gloss Protective Enamel in Clear. And within a few hours she was sitting right where she belonged.</span></div><span style="font-family: Courier New;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0nD3DhCgI/AAAAAAAAADg/sPk_4wUkpWM/s1600/043.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0nD3DhCgI/AAAAAAAAADg/sPk_4wUkpWM/s320/043.JPG" width="240" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">As soon as I placed her at my desk, I thought it was the perfect fit.</span><br />

She still has the wheels (which is so handy on my tile floors) and she is so pretty in black!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0nSsdYn6I/AAAAAAAAADk/MBgNMmxUn2Q/s1600/044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TO0nSsdYn6I/AAAAAAAAADk/MBgNMmxUn2Q/s320/044.JPG" width="240" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Makes this area look so much more inviting and completed. Try making their birthday cakes! Just like any mom would do- I love making birthday's special for my little ones. I try to put their personality into each one and I try to make unique things for their party decorations. I decided this year to make his cake and it was alot of fun. So since thanksgiving is this week, I thought someone might want to know how to make a "Pumpkin" Cake! (his theme was sweet Lil Pumpkin!)</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Courier New;">2 cake boxes</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">Eggs</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">Oil</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">Water</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">(Just fix it like a regular ole' cake!)</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="300" id="il_fi" src="http://www.kitchenhaven.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/flexible_tube_pan.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="400" /></span></div><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Cook 2 cakes in this bunt pan and let them cool. (Pretty easy, huh?) Now, lets start making the icing! My High School Home Ec Teacher (aka as the best cake decorator in town!) gave me her recipe. So here it is!!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;"><u>Birthday/Wedding Cake Icing:</u></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">2 1b bag of Powder Sugar</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">1 1/2 Crisco (don't go generic)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">1 tsp. Lemon Flavoring (she prefers Wilton's)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">1 tsp. Almond Flavoring </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">1/2 cup boiling water (add until you get the best consistency)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">*If it becomes to "creamy" when mixing- add a little more powdered sugar!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img height="199" id="il_fi" src="http://www.nexternal.com/ddshop/images/Disply-Tip32-med-bg.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="230" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Here comes the <strike>stressful </strike>fun part! You will need to color your icing with food coloring. I just bought a box of Wilton's food coloring from walmart in the party section. Then, You will need a icing bag for decorating and a good star tip. (like above) Place the cake upside down on a cake plate and ice the top with your orange icing. Then Place the other cake right side up on top of the icing! The recipe called for a Ice cream cone to use as the stem, however, I didn't have one! So I used a Styrofoam cup! You simply place the cup in the "bunt pan whole." Don't worry if it looks crazy- you will cover it with icing.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><img height="133" id="il_fi" src="http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/art/teasers/pastryTease.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="200" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Then, You simply star the whole cake. (yes, it took like forever.) I also added some green leaves, some "spriggly" vines and a scare crow sign with "Happy First Birthday Pierson"! <span style="font-size: x-small;">There was no way I was gonna attempt to write his name with Icing!</span></span></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img height="300" id="il_fi" src="http://s7.thisnext.com/media/largest_dimension/5664E088.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="300" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">You can get a starter tip set from Michaels! Use your 40 percent off coupon!</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">If your child wants a certain character cake, they are so very easy. You just star them in and outline! We have a party store in town that lets you "rent" the pan for 3 dollars! (beats 25-30 dollars for a birthday cake!)</span></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I'm a moody kind of sewer- by that I mean that my Sewing frenzies come and go like moods do. Some days sewing is the LAST thing I would ever want to do- and some days I can't keep myself out of my sewing room. My boys have Loved the fact that I was in one of "those" moods this week. I have found them grazing in my pantry with goldfish and oreos all over the floor. Yes, they love it when I get in my sewing mood</span><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=393147&id=100000652117180" id="myphotolink"><img height="320" id="myphoto" seq="25" src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1181.snc4/150374_167347623296974_100000652117180_393149_7944034_n.jpg" width="212" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: Courier New;">A friend of mine, asked me to make a cute cheerleader outfit for her 9 week old granddaughter- so this is what I came up with. It was alot of fun to sew for a little girl!!</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TOmYbxl0-aI/AAAAAAAAAC8/2JNyjLH_tHQ/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_63Rb9AhitZg/TOmYbxl0-aI/AAAAAAAAAC8/2JNyjLH_tHQ/s200/004.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I made the bows removable by sewing snaps on the pants and the bow.</td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-family: Courier New;">If I posted a how-to on this outfit it would go something like this. "Sew it this way, No that's not right, tear it out- cut it off, ok sew it this way-"- Oh well, you get the picture. Didn't have a pattern to go by (or measurements!) but after many <strike>days </strike>hours of figuring it out- it turned out to fit her just perfect. (thank goodness!) I think it will be alot easier next time around now that I have a pattern!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="I found two that show her outfit somewhat, but I was really trying to get her & didn't get her outfit that much... Sorry.... I'll send them both. I think I'll have to do it separate..." class="img" height="320" src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1154.snc4/149601_1741959948736_1230837302_31965996_6230353_n.jpg" width="213" /></div><span style="font-family: Courier New;">I will say that I sewed my first "Pillowcase Dress" by watching a tutorial <a href="http://www.mindbites.com/lesson/683-how-to-make-a-pillowcase-dress">similar to this one</a> by Mind Bites. I am so sure you could find how to do this all over the Internet without paying 99 cents-(I think its actually 1.98 now!!) but it was worth it to me. If anyone is interested in a tutorial- comment and let me know. I will be working on some this week! They are SO very easy! </span> <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Maybe I can get some better pics at Thanksgiving! My camera was missing=(</td></tr>
</tbody></table><span style="font-family: Courier New;">The Pattern I used for this Longall came from Simplicity. Honestly, I no longer use a pattern. I just get out a Longall that fits him and go by that. I love longalls and shortalls on lil boys- but honestly, I can't afford the 50-75 dollar price tag from children boutique shops! So, I attempt to make them! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table><span style="font-family: Courier New;">I really enjoy making them seasonal outfits that match. I usually order the appliques from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/62265480/small-santa-hat-no-sew-applique?ref=sr_gallery_8&ga_search_query=pinpoint&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=&includes%5B0%5D=tags&includes%5B1%5D=title&filter%5B0%5D=handmade">this</a> etsy shop. She is great to work with and is so cheap! These appliques would be so cute on a white t-shirt with jeans if you don't sew!</span> <br />

We are 2 1/2 years apart. I have been married 7 1/2 years and have 2 kids and she has been married 6 months and doesn't even have a dog. We don't have alot in common- yet we have everything in common. If you could see the texts, emails and phone conversations between us these days....you would read and hear words like "groupon", "southern savers", "printable coupons", "ebates" and "rite aid." (Fun conversations, huh?)</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5288070&id=533019046" id="myphotolink"><img height="320" id="myphoto" src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs331.ash1/28733_414715929046_533019046_5288089_4460588_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I am not really sure when it happened, but the "money saving bug" has definitely bitten us. We love to find ways to save money and we love to call each other or skype to catch each other up on the deals for that day. SO- I thought that instead of keeping it between the two of us- we would start sharing things here at my new blog. We might even start taking turns doing the posts--thats if I let her.=) (I still have the older-sis-rights,ha)</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5288076&id=533019046" id="myphotolink"><img height="240" id="myphoto" src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs322.snc3/28733_414715779046_533019046_5288074_6418412_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">ok. So I hardly ever post twice in one day- but I had to let you in on this one before they are all gone! So ready for a great savings tip that we both have recently rushed to Target for in the last 24 hrs?...drum roll, please. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img alt="Product Image Nick & Nora® Womens Pajama Set Collection - Assorted Colors" height="260" id="imageViewer" jquery1290218517549="23" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41qrgm9IN-L._AA260_.jpg" width="260" /></span></div><span style="font-family: Courier New;">If you go to <a href="http://www.target.com/">Target's website,</a> you will see on the left hand side bar a link to push for printable coupons. You will see different categories and in the "apparel" link- there will be a coupon for 10 dollars off 3 sleepwear items. The coupon doesn't exclude clearance items. SO- in alot of Target stores right now, you will find tons of flannel pajamas and even some summer pajamas for 50 to 75 percent off.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">We both found 3 different pairs and paid somewhere around 90 some cents total. (I will say if you live in my area- the clearance is a little slim-but you may find something!) Also- it is still an awesome deal if you want to buy 3 different Regular priced Pajamas for yourself or for Christmas Presents and use your 10 dollars off!!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5463741&id=533019046" id="myphotolink"><img height="462" id="myphoto" src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs610.snc3/32133_421480499046_533019046_5477401_5346782_n.jpg" width="316" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">One more quick tip to help you MAKE money while you start your Christmas shopping online. Yes, you read that right, MAKE money. You even get 5 dollars just for signing up! If you shop through a website called, <a href="http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=mbWyvW9uALj%2FgqunFiBFTw%3D%3D">Ebates,</a> you can get a check sent right to your mailbox- or paid to you through pay-pal. Lets say you want to get this great pajama deal that I told you about earlier at Target.com- You would first go to <a href="http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=mbWyvW9uALj%2FgqunFiBFTw%3D%3D">Ebates,</a> find the target website, and push the link. Since you shopped through the Ebates website, they will give you a certain percentage back. You have to check it out!! Jen and I have really been excited over the money that we have made by shopping online!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><img height="72" id="il_fi" src="http://www.ebatesjoinfree.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/ebates-money-man1.gif" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="211" /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Look for more Sizzlin' Sister Money-Savingz Tipz-- Black Friday is right around the corner and we can't wait! Now go get you some warm flannel pajamas! Hurry, before they are gone!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZMadrTI__wo/SLhiG1j2QoI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/_mE8YTEBmfE/s1600-h/popop.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240046036041745026" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ZMadrTI__wo/SLhiG1j2QoI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/_mE8YTEBmfE/s320/popop.jpg" /></a></span></div>Julie Scotthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10024567576821263980noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5674213524149616543.post-24024943314417415662010-11-19T05:55:00.000-08:002010-11-19T07:25:18.913-08:00Julie's Favorite Things Friday<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I love to read blogs. All kinds of blogs about many different subjects.....parenting, decorating, money-saving, family-life. To me, its like reading a few good mini-books before I go to bed. I have learned so many different ideas and so many new crafts and projects that I can't wait to attempt! When I see something I like, I usually just add it to my "favorites bar". Well, I have decided that every Friday I will begin a series on my blog called "Julie's Favorite Things Friday." I will share links and pictures of some of my "favorite things" that I have read in "blogland" that week or maybe just some products or ideas that friends share with me that have become a fave.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">By the way, I really don't watch Oprah, but I did see on a preview that she is going to be doing her BEST "Oprah's Favorite Things" episode EVER because this is her last season. In the previews it showed people hysterically crying and acting Wild over whatever her give-aways were--I might just have to tune in to see what that's all about. Anyway.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Without further delay...and because I know you are just on the edge of your seats (insert sarcasm here)- Here is my First list for "Julie's Favorite Thing's Fridays" .......</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New;"> <img alt="Picture of Creamy Macaroni and Cheese Recipe" src="http://img.foodnetwork.com/FOOD/2007/03/13/pa0912_macandcheese_lg.jpg" width="616" /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">1. Paula Deen's</span> <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/creamy-macaroni-and-cheese-recipe/index.html">Crock Pot Macaroni-N-Cheese </a> <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">recipe. Let me just stop here and say that usually when you see the name "Paula Deen" in front of a recipe you know 2 things: 1. Its gonna be really fattening. 2. It's gonna be incredibly good. Looking for a new side to add to your Thanksgiving Feast? Add this one. Your family will thank you!</span><br />

Love <a href="http://www.southernsavers.com/">Southern Savers!!</a> This is my go-to for all money-saving needs. Restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, gift ideas- go here and Jenny from "Southern Savers" will usually have just what you need for a fraction of the price. My sister, Jennifer, and I will normally call each other every day to talk about the deals that are going on--whether it be in stores or online. Scarves. Who doesn't love a scarf. I will be the first to admit that I have no clue what is "in-style" or whats the "new thing". Its just not all that important to me anymore. However, I do like to buy some things that are classic. As far as I know, I'm pretty sure that scarves are still in-style?!? (right, sis?) Anyway, favorite place to buy them? <a href="http://www.target.com/">Target</a>. For 10 bucks (maybe a lil more or less) you can get you a great scarf that will make any outfit go from dull to sassy. A few tips from my Sis (she told them to me when I wore this type. Gotta love in-style-younger-sisters)- 1. Don't wear them too tight around your neck. 2. Don't buy them too skinny and short. Yes, I violated both of those.</span> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://media.victoriassecret.com/product/prodpri2/V292929.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" class="block" height="572" id="vsImage" src="http://media.victoriassecret.com/product/prodpri2/V292929.jpg" width="424" /></a></div><div class="post-30104 post type-post hentry category-uncategorized" sizcache="13" sizset="175" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">5. Pink Fresh and Clean Lotion and Body Spray. I'm a very picky perfume kinda girl. I can't handle just any fragrance and I rarely buy anything other than this great fragrance from Victoria Secret. If you are like me, and can't handle strong perfumes, You will definitely want to add this to your Christmas List. You will love the smell and the price!</span></div><div class="post-30104 post type-post hentry category-uncategorized" sizcache="13" sizset="175" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"></div><div class="post-30104 post type-post hentry category-uncategorized" sizcache="13" sizset="175" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Would love to keep going, but I need to go <strike>finish the last load of laundry</strike> to bed!
